Conditioning coach Aled Walters says his allegiance is with the Springboks ahead of their Test against Wales in Washington DC on Saturday.
The Welshman joined the Boks along with coach Rassie Erasmus from Munster.
Despite his nationality, Walters says he is firmly behind the South Africans as they prepare for their opening Test of the year.
‘I hope everything goes well on the weekend or I won’t be enjoying much,’ he told BBC Radio. ‘On Saturday I’ll give my all for South Africa and I really hope we give Wales a good stuffing.’
Walters said South African rugby and Welsh rugby was a lot alike.
‘They’re similar to Wales in many ways in that rugby means everything.
‘Everything happened quickly after I left Munster at the start of March, so even though three months have passed it’s gone really quickly preparing for these June Tests.
‘It’s an opportunity to work in another country and to have a totally different experience,’ he added.
