Jake White quit the Sharks after growing discord between himself and his coaching staff and players.
According to The Mercury's Mike Greenaway, while White may not technically have been fired by the board of the Sharks, it is believed he was no longer heading a harmonious environment.
Former Springbok assistant coach Gary Gold is the early favourite to replace White as the Super Rugby coach, with former All Blacks coach John Mitchell, who lives in Durban, also in the running.
White’s allegedly dictatorial coaching style won him few friends in the Shark Tank and it has been agreed that he will step down after just one year in the job. He has already returned to his home in Cape Town.
While White has been linked with a job at Maties, SARugbymag.co.za understands that he could join Irish club Ulster.
