Boshoff back for Lions

Published on September 22, 2014 | Leave a response

Marnitz Boshoff has recovered from a fractured arm and will take his place on the bench for the Golden Lions match against Griquas in Kimberley on Saturday.

Boshoff, who was ruled out for up to three months after fracturing his arm in the Lions' opening Currie Cup match against the Bulls, has made a stunning recovery and looks set to play a role in the Currie Cup run-in.

Elsewhere in the side, prop Jacques van Rooyen and flank Warwick Tecklenburg will both start the match after featuring from the bench last weekend.

Among the backs, Ross Cronjé returns at scrumhalf, while Howard Mnisi will get a chance from the start after a couple of impressive substitute appearances.

Derick Minnie will continue to work his way back to match fitness from the bench, while Schalk van der Merwe and Julian Redelinghuys have been bracketed together, with the latter still feeling the effects of a calf strain.

Golden Lions – 15 Andries Coetzee, 14 Ruan Combrinck, 13 Lionel Mapoe (c), 12 Howard Mnisi, 11 Courtnall Skosan, 10 Jaco van der Walt, 9 Ross Cronjé, 8 Willie Britz, 7 Warwick Tecklenburg, 6 Jaco Kriel, 5 Franco Mostert, 4 Martin Muller, 3 Ruan Dreyer, 2 Armand van der Merwe, 1 Jacques van Rooyen.
Subs: 16 Robbie Coetzee, 17 Schalk van der Merwe/Julian Redelinghuys, 18 Derick Minnie, 19 Kwagga Smith, 20 Mark Richards, 21 Marnitz Boshoff, 22 Stokkies Hanekom.
