Western Province will be without the services of scrumhalf Nic Groom for the Currie Cup match against the Golden Lions at Ellis Park on Saturday.
Groom received a blow to his collar bone in the final minutes of the victory over the EP Kings, after coming on as a replacement and could be out for up to three weeks.
Speaking on Monday, coach Allister Coetzee said that while Groom has responded well to treatment, he won't be fit to make the trip to the highveld. The loss means that Louis Schreuder will retain his place in the starting lineup, while Godlen Masimla could be in line to make his debut at the weekend.
Cheslin Kolbe is another who is struggling from an injury picked up in Friday night's 49-14 win. Kolbe hyper-extended his knee, but a decision on his involvement will only be made later this week. Should he fail to recover in time, Jaco Taute or Justin Geduld will be considered for the fullback role.
Meanwhile, Geduld's Blitzboks teammate Seabelo Senatla has been ruled out for a further three weeks.
In more positive news, Scarra Ntubeni looks set to make his return this weekend, while Oli Kebble could be up for selection.
