Brendan Venter says a primary objective from SA Rugby's two-day coaches indaba is to assess styles of play and find a degree of uniformity across the board.
Venter, who is facilitating proceedings in Cape Town, explained in his column for Times LIVE that there was a need to establish a system where knowledge was shared, while enabling coaches to adapt when trends change.
'My primary objective this week is to get the assembled group of Springbok coaching staff, Super rugby coaches, former national coaches, players and specialists to share their rugby knowledge.
'As a rugby nation, I believe that we need to reach a point where we are comfortable enough to share our intellectual property among ourselves.
'We shouldn't be so secretive about what we are trying to achieve in South African rugby, because a coach's ability to implement a plan is what sets him apart in coaching circles.'
Venter also said that Duane Vermeulen and Schalk Burger couldn't be criticised for being outspoken about the problems within the structures of South African rugby.
The indaba will conclude on Thursday.
