Lood de Jager has been cited for alleged foul play after charging into a ruck against the All Blacks at Kings Park on Saturday.
Referee Jérôme Garcès handed De Jager a yellow card at the time, but upon further review of the footage, the citing commissioner deemed the incident to have met the red-card threshold for foul play.
De Jager will appear before judicial officer Adam Casselden, and if he is found guilty and handed down a suspension, he will not be available for the Cheetahs’ Currie Cup semi-final against the Lions.
