Ireland centre Jared Payne has been ruled out of the rest of the World Cup due to a fractured foot.
Payne was left out of Ireland's match-day squad for Sunday's Pool D decider with France in Cardiff and his tournament is now officially over.
'Following training on Wednesday, due to continued discomfort, Jared Payne had further scans which revealed a foot fracture,' read an Irish Rugby Union press statement. 'He will be returning to Ireland for specialist opinion and will take no further part in the tournament.
'No decision on a replacement will be made until after tomorrow's final Pool D match against France at the Millennium Stadium.'
