Marnitz Boshoff, operating at flyhalf, showed better accuracy in execution at Ellis Park on Saturday, writes BRENTON CHELIN.

Having been selected at fullback earlier in the week, Johan Ackermann sprung a surprise on the Cheetahs when he started Marnitz Boshoff in the No 10 jersey.

It was an inspired decision that helped shape the outcome of the match. Boshoff controlled the tempo superbly, kicking when required and taking the ball to the line at the opportune moment. His usual accuracy off the kicking tee wavered in the middle of the match, but he still came away with 20 points courtesy of three penalties and four conversions.

Blommetjies was guilty of trying to play too much rugby, throwing passes that weren't on and looking to counter-attack every ball that was kicked on him. His one-on-one defence also left a lot to be desired in a fairly forgettable afternoon for the Cheetahs fullback.
