The Brumbies have signed Argentina scrumhalf Tomás Cubelli for the next two Vodacom Super Rugby seasons.

The 26-year-old has earned 45 Test caps for Los Pumas and was one of their star players in this year's Rugby Championship and World Cup.

Brumbies coach Stephen Larkham expressed his delight at capturing the signature of Cubelli, who until recently played club rugby for Belgrano and the Pampas XV.

'We’ve seen his performances in the Rugby Championship and the great form he showed at the World Cup, particularly against the All Blacks,' said Larkham. 'Tomás has the necessary skills and knowledge of the game to successfully fit into our structure, and be a gamebreaker in Super Rugby,' he added.

Despite prior concerns over his availabilty during the Test window, the Argentina Rugby Union has given Cubelli their full support and blessing for his two-year deal.

'We wish Tomás all the best on his move to the Brumbies. Linking with Stephen Larkham and the Brumbies' world-class program will allow Tomás to develop his skills in the world’s hardest club competition,' said an UAR spokesperson.
