Craig Joubert will referee the match between England and Wales at Twickenham in March.
Joubert came under fire at the recent World Cup after awarding a controversial late penalty in the fourth quarter-final, which allowed the Wallabies to snatch a 35-34 win against Scotland.
World Rugby later confirmed in a press release that the South African should have awarded a scrum and not a penalty for the accidental offside. The governing body was then slammed for publicly criticising an official, with CEO Brett Gosper insisting they had not meant to throw Joubert 'under the bus' but simply tried to clarify the situation.
In any event, the incident has not counted against Joubert for the 2016 Six Nations.
He will be in charge of one of the biggest games of the tournament, and will also be an assistant referee for the match between Ireland and Scotland in Dublin.
