The EP Kings have once again come under pressure over unpaid salaries, and are facing a deadline from Sarpa to make payments by Tuesday.
After payment problems surfaced again at the end of October, the South African Rugby Players Association issued a written 10-day notice for the Kings to pay outstanding salaries or face action against them.
Sarpa spokesperson Nyaniso Sam confirmed that the 10 days notice lapses on Tuesday, and that various actions were being discussed if the matter was still not resolved by then.
The cash-strapped Kings have faced ongoing financial issues for months on end, with salary payment problems continuing.
Kings president Cheeky Watson is believed to have travelled abroad, where among other things, he is said to be looking into delays over a long-touted new sponsorship that has failed to materialise.
These repeated issues come against the backdrop of reports that Toulon owner Mourad Boudjellal has expressed an interest to ‘buy’ the Kings franchise and bail them out of their financial woes. However, a list of unfeasible demands are believed to be part of the offer.
