The Blue Bulls men’s and women’s teams took top honours at the Saru interprovincial sevens tournament in Nelspruit.

The men's side defeated Western Province 38-29 and the women pipped Western Province 24-22 in their respective Cup finals on Saturday.

In the men’s division, the Leopards defeated Eastern Province 29-24 in a sudden-death play-off to win the Plate final after finishing the match 24-24 at full-time, while SWD won the Bowl final and Boland won the Shield final.

In the women’s section, Free State won the Plate final with a convincing 19-7 victory against the SA Students, while Eastern Province won the Bowl final, and the Blue Bulls XV clinched the Shield final.
