Argentina scored two unanswered tries to beat Italy 20-18 in Genoa on Friday.
Italy controlled the game for most of the evening but a try from wing Lucas González Amorosino, just before the break, and another from centre Jerónimo De la Fuente, on the hour mark, saw the visitors snatch victory.
Replacement pivot Luciano Orquera had a chance to win it for the hosts but sent his 79th-minute drop-goal attempt wide.
Orquera had kicked a simple penalty soon after coming onto the field, with Italy's New Zealand-born flyhalf Kelly Haimona slotting five.
