Kings duo Masixole Banda and Chris Cloete have been ruled out of Saturday's match against the Brumbies in PE, while CJ Velleman suffered another injury setback.
Cloete has been an influential figure for the Kings this season and was rewarded with a call-up to the Springbok squad on Monday. But Kings team doctor Konrad von Hagen confirmed on Tuesday that Cloete sustained a concussion against the Sharks over the weekend and in adhering to World Rugby's return-to-play protocol the flanker will sit out the match against the Brumbies.
Banda is also unlikely to face the Brumbies after sustaining a hamstring strain. The fullback will undergo scans later in the week to determine the extent of the injury.
Von Hagen confirmed that after making good progress in his recovery from a long-term knee injury, Velleman injured the same knee during training last week and will require corrective surgery. The 22-year-old is set to miss the remainder of the season.
