Huw Jones has been included in Scotland's 27-man squad for their June Test series against Japan.
Jones, who was born in Scotland and educated in England, replaces the injured Finn Russell.
The 22-year-old came to work at Bishops Preparatory in Cape Town after school and later joined local club False Bay in 2013. From there, he worked his way through the Western Province structures to make his Super Rugby debut in 2015.
Jones played centre for the Stormers in last weekend's defeat against the Bulls at Loftus, but was left out of the match 23 for Saturday's game against the Cheetahs.
'I’m delighted to get this opportunity to play for Scotland,' he said. 'The call came as a bit of a surprise, but I’m thrilled and can’t wait to get to Edinburgh next month and play my part in an exciting squad.
'I didn’t go out to South Africa with the intention of becoming a professional rugby player but, as my career progressed, it became more of a realistic goal to play for Scotland.'
