Charles Marais will start ahead of Ox Nche when the Cheetahs take on the Blues at Eden Park on Friday.
Nche has been a highly impressive performer for the Cheetahs, but his place at loosehead prop will be taken by Marais in one of two changes to the starting lineup.
The one injury-enforced change sees Niell Jordaan come in for injured Paul Schoeman on the flank.
