Griquas will be looking to extend their seven-match winning streak when they come up against Western Province at Newlands on Saturday, writes CRAIG LEWIS.
Griquas have been virtually unstoppable as they’ve established a nine-point lead at the top of the log after an unbeaten start to the season that has seen them also bank six log points.
However, the Kimberley-based side will know that they’re in for a real test on Saturday when they take on third-placed Western Province at Newlands.
Province have played one less game than Griquas, and have only suffered the solitary loss this season. WP will also come into the encounter on the back of a good win over the Blue Bulls last weekend.
Besides this intriguing match-up, the battle between the Free State XV and Pumas should also be a closely-fought affair, with just a single log point separating these sides in fourth and fifth place on the log.
In other clashes on Friday, second-placed Boland should prove too strong for the SWD Eagles, although it could be a tight contest between Border and the Valke in East London.
On Saturday, the Golden Lions XV should overcome the EP Kings in Johannesburg, while the Blue Bulls will be searching for just their second win when they take on the Leopards in Pretoria. Meanwhile, the Griffons will back themselves to overcome the winless Welwitschias in Windhoek.
