Jean Deysel has escaped serious injury after landing dangerously on his head against the Jaguares in Buenos Aires on Saturday, writes CRAIG LEWIS.
Deysel had to be stretchered from the field in the first half after taking the ball into contact and falling to ground awkwardly, with the team’s medical staff moving quickly to stabilise his neck.
Despite concerns that it could have been a serious neck injury, the word from the Sharks camp is that Deysel is fine and was able to return to South Africa with the rest of the squad.
Jaguares captain Agustín Creevy received a one-week ban for his role in the dangerous tackle that caused Deysel’s injury, with the Sharks going on to record a narrow win.
The Sharks will next take on the Kings in Durban before having a bye.
