The Blitzboks will play Scotland in the Cup quarter-finals of the Glasgow Sevens following a 19-5 loss to New Zealand on Saturday.
Neil Powell's team had yet to concede a try heading into their clash with the series leaders, but failed to match their opponents' physicality.
Justin Geduld starred for the Blitzboks on Saturday, grabbing four tries on the day, including their solitary score against New Zealand.
Having deafeated Portugal 38-0 and Samoa 40-0, despite the absence of Kyle Brown and Cecil Afrika, the Blitzboks will be confident they can still go all the way in Glasgow.
They'll meet the hosts in the quarter-final after they topped Group D, a group that included Australia.
