Star Bulls fullback Warrick Gelant has been ruled out of action for at least six weeks after fracturing his jaw against the Sunwolves on Saturday.
Bulls team doctor Herman Rossouw confirmed on Tuesday that Gelant is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines, with the former Junior Springbok expected to undergo surgery on Wednesday.
Bulls coach Nollis Marais will now need to decide whether to slot SP Marais into the fullback berth or to shift Jesse Kriel or Bjorn Basson from their regular positions at outside centre and wing respectively.
In other injury news, former Sharks loose forward Renaldo Bothma is still a couple of weeks away from a return to action as he continues to recover from an ankle injury, but fit-again Lappies Labuschagne, Deon Stegmann and Dean Greyling are all in training.
