Pauliasi Manu will miss the rest of the Super Rugby season after rupturing an Achilles tendon during training on Wednesday.
Manu would have earned his 50th cap for the Chiefs this Friday against the Force.
Instead he will have to undergo surgery in the next few days. He will also need rehabilitation for six to nine months.
Atu Moli, New Zealand U20 captain, is a possibility to replace Manu in the Chiefs' match-day 23.
