Highlanders wing Waisake Naholo has been ruled out for six to eight weeks with a broken leg.
During his side's 33-31 defeat to the Blues in Auckland, Naholo suffered a new fracture in the same leg that he injured before last year's World Cup.
'While this is very unfortunate for Waisake, the positive news is that this injury is not as bad as his last fracture,' said Highlanders doctor Greg Macleod.
Meanwhile, Highlanders scrumhalf Fumiaki Tanaka injured his calf at training and will be sidelined for the next four weeks.
