Pat Lambie has been ruled out for the remainder of Super Rugby and much of the Test season with a bicep injury.
The Sharks and Springbok flyhalf injured his arm in Saturday’s game against the Bulls. It was initially thought that Lambie would be sidelined for six weeks, but subsequent scans have confirmed that the bicep tendon is torn and Lambie won’t be back until September, at least..
This means that Lambie will not be available for the Boks' June Tests, nor the Rugby Championship.
Lambie’s halfback partner at the Sharks, Cobus Reinach, has also received some bad news. Reinach broke his hand in Saturday’s game, and the severity of the fracture is such that he will be sidelined for four months.
The Sharks may have to rely on Charl McLeod and Tim Swiel as their starting halfback pairing for the next couple of months. The alternative is to move Frans Steyn to No 10, a move that paid off in a recent match against the Lions.
