The Tasman flank injured his hamstring during the pre-season. His inclusion sees Elliot Dixon move to No 6.
Tom Franklin will start at No 4 lock after impressing off the bench and a reshuffle in the front row sees Ross Geldenhuys at tighthead prop.
Pingi Tala’apitaga provides cover on the bench for Ma’afu Fia who received a knee injury during last week’s game against the Chiefs.
Meanwhile, the Waratahs have named an unchanged starting lineup for the match.
