Saffas on the receiving end

SARugbymag.co.za looks back at the past weekend's Anglo-Welsh Cup semi-finals, which involved SA players.

– Saracens squandered the slender one-point lead they held at the break, losing 26-7 to rivals the Northampton Saints. Although Saracens dominated the first 40 minutes, the Saints didn't let them let get away on the scoreboard and in the second 40, Sarries were made to pay dearly. The winners scored three unanswered tries to hand prop Petrus du Plessis and his Saracens team-mates a rugby lesson of note. Former Bok scrumhalf Neil de Kock completed the losing side's substitution list, but didn't make it on to the field .

– Exeter overturned a five-point deficit consigning Bath to a 22-19 loss at the Recreation ground. Bok flank Francois Louw, one of Bath's reinforcements, came on as early as the 47th minute, but to no avail, as they tasted defeat against the Chiefs for the first time since 1978. The winners next face Northampton at Sandy Park, and will be hoping they can secure the club's first major trophy in their 143-year history.
