College Rovers thumped Welkom 85-0 in Durban on the opening weekend of the Community Cup.
With both sides looking to make an early statement, it was Rovers who took the initiative which saw them lead 38-0 at the break.
If the first half was tough for the visitors, the second half must have been torturous as they leaked seven tries. Rovers collected maximum points and will head into their second match high on confidence, while Welkom will hope for a better showing in their second game against Roodepoort.
Spring Rose were also on the receiving end, losing 24-6 against their hosts Despatch at the WJ de Wet Stadium.
Despatch flyhalf Monty Dumond was the destroyer-in-chief, kicking four penalties and converting one of his side's two tries. Spring Rose had to settle for two penalties from their flyhalf Thulani Meki.
