Flyhalf Ben Volavola kicked five penalties as Fiji beat Scotland 27-22 in Suva on Saturday.
Volavola also slotted a conversion to finish with a 17-point haul.
Scotland had claimed a famous win against the Wallabies in Sydney last weekend, but then lost a further three players to British & Irish Lions duty.
While they managed to outscore Fiji by three tries to two on Saturday, their indiscipline cost them dearly.
It was only the second time the Pacific Islanders had beaten the Scots, with their first win coming way back in 1998.
There were three yellow cards in the first half, two for Fiji and one for Scotland, which set the tone for a fiercely fought battle in humid conditions.
The hosts led 11-7 at the break and extended their lead in the second half.
Replacement hooker Fraser Brown scored a try, with four minutes remaining in the match to give Scotland hope, but Fiji were able to hang on for the win.
