Sean McMahon will start at No 8 in one of four changes to the Wallabies team for the second Test against England in Melbourne on Saturday.
McMahon, who turns 22 on the day of the Test, comes into the run-on XV after David Pocock was ruled out of the remainder of the series with an eye socket injury.
In the second row, lock Rob Simmons has failed to overcome a back injury and is replaced by Sam Carter.
The 11-point loss to England in Brisbane has also prompted coach Michael Cheika to make two tactical changes in the front row, with props James Slipper and Sekope Seku starting ahead of Greg Holmes and Scott Sio.
Cheika has named an extended bench which includes new faces Toby Smith, Wycliff Palu, Ben McMalman, Liam Gill and Luke Morahan. The match 23 will be finalised on Friday.
