Goromaru heads to Toulon

Japan fullback Ayumu Goromaru has signed a one-year contract with French Top 14 club Toulon.

The deal comes into effect in August, and includes the option of a contract extension for another season afterwards.

After a stellar performance at the 2015 World Cup, Goromaru was snapped up by the Reds as one of their marquee signings for this year's Super Rugby competition, but he has struggled to get game time.

Goromaru was set to return to Jubilo Yamaha at the end of Super Rugby, but the club where he spent most of his career has terminated his contract with immediate effect on Thursday.

If the 30-year-old does play for Toulon in the early rounds of the Top 14, he will have represented his third domestic club in three different leagues in the space of seven months.
