Koch joins Saracens

Springbok prop Vincent Koch has signed a two-year contract with English and European champions Saracens.

Koch played two Tests for the Springboks in 2015, but was not selected in the squad to take on Ireland in the upcoming June Test series. He is currently with the South Africa A team who will play the England Saxons in a two-match series in Bloemfontein and George over the next fortnight.

The 26-year-old will join his new club once he has completed his Super Rugby duties with the Stormers.

'I am very honoured and privileged to join a champion team like Sarries. Ever since I visited Saracens I just knew that they would be the perfect club for me. I’m really looking forward to join the boys for the upcoming season to begin the hard work for the 2016-17 campaign,' Koch said in a statement.

Saracens director of rugby Mark McCall said he was pleased to have captured Koch's signature and believes the player will become a key figure for the club in the future.

'We identified Vincent as a player who could make a significant contribution to the squad at tighthead prop and at 26 he is a player with huge potential.'

Saracens have also announced the signing of Scotland wing Sean Maitland from rivals London Irish.
