Coetzee heads to Japan

Sharks and Springbok flank Marcell Coetzee will play in Japan after the World Cup.

Coetzee, Vodacom Bulls centre JJ Engelbrecht and Lions lock Andries Ferreira have all signed three-month contracts (from 1 November 2015 to 31 January 2016) and will return to their South African franchises for the Super Rugby season.

The 24-year-old Coetzee will play for Honda Heat, who have been promoted back into the Top League, while Engelbrecht and Ferreira are set to represent the Toyota Industries Shuttles.

The trio join a long list of South Africans who have opted to head abroad during the off-season, including Francois Hougaard and Willie le Roux. Handré Pollard is also likely to join them.

Honda Heat have also confirmed the signing of Wallabies wing Digby Ioane, who had spent two seasons at newly crowned French champions Stade Français.
