Dillon Smit has been named in the Lions' provisional squad as injury cover for Ross Cronjé in Saturday's semi-final against the Highlanders at Ellis Park.
Coach Johann Ackermann selected a strong 27-man squad, but with Cronjé's availability under threat due to a contusion injury sustained in the quarter-final against the Crusaders, Smit has been added to the group.
Cronjé who will undergo a fitness test later in the week before a final call is made.
