Warren Whiteley has been named in a Lions group of 25 players to be considered for Saturday's quarter-final against the Crusaders at Ellis Park.
Whiteley picked up a shoulder injury while on duty with the Springboks in June, and it was feared that his Super Rugby season was over. However, he has made a quicker than expected recovery and could be in this week's match 23 if he passes a fitness test on Thursday.
A few players who featured against the Jaguares in Argentina are said to be battling with a stomach bug, but are expected to resume training soon.
Lions squad: Dylan Smith, Corné Fourie, Julian Redelinghuys, Jacques van Rooyen, Akker van der Merwe, Malcolm Marx, Franco Mostert, Andries Ferreira, Lourens Erasmus, Warren Whiteley, Ruan Ackermann, Warwick Tecklenburg, Jaco Kriel, Cyle Brink, Faf de Klerk, Ross Cronjé, Elton Jantjies, Jaco van der Walt, Rohan Janse van Rensburg, Lionel Mapoe, Howard Mnisi, Courtnall Skosan, Ruan Combrinck, Andries Coetzee, Sylvian Mahuza.
