The Chiefs adapted better to the wet weather conditions in Suva to come away with an important 23-13 win over the Crusaders, according to SARugbymag.co.za’s Opta-powered stats.
Despite the fact that plenty of rain fell before kick-off and during the early parts of the encounter on Friday, the Crusaders opted to play too much rugby with ball in hand.
They edged the Chiefs in most of the attacking stats, but they ultimately conceded far too many turnovers (18) and committed 12 handling errors.
By contrast, the Chiefs adopted a more measured approach and made the most of their opportunities – both of their tries came against the run of play – to come away with a crucial win that takes them back to the top of the New Zealand conference.
