Ardie Savea has been bracketed with Callum Gibbins at openside flank for Saturday's Vodacom Super Rugby final.
Savea’s knee will continue to be monitored throughout the remainder of the week. If he does not play and Gibbins comes in to the run-on side then Mark Abbott will be added to the replacements bench.
The only change to the Hurricanes match-day squad comes at reserve hooker where Motu Matu’u returns from a knee injury, which means Brayden Mitchell drops out.
The Highlanders have also made a change to their bench, with flyhalf Marty Banks replacing Trent Renata.
