Steve Walsh will referee the Sharks-Highlanders match in Durban on Saturday.

Walsh, a New Zealander who now works for the Australian Rugby Union, will be assisted by South Africans Jaco Peyper and Cobus Wessels, with Shaun Veldsman in the TMO box.

Craig Joubert will be in charge of the first qualifier play-off, between the Brumbies and Chiefs in Canberra.

Sanzar has also confirmed that should any Super Rugby play-off match end with the scores level, the following will apply until a winner is determined:

a) Extra time played in two periods of 10 minutes
b) Sudden death extra time in a period of up to 10 minutes
c) A kicking competition featuring five players from each team
