Kingswood hammered Woodridge 77-10 in their annual Founders Day clash in Thornhill Saturday.
Kingswood outscored their hosts 12 tries to one in what was a one-sided affair. They ruthlessly cut through Woodridge’s defence with ease and dominated the entire derby.
Mike van Breda opened the scoring with two quick tries, with flyhalf Michael Braans converting on both occasions. Woodridge hit back with a try and a penalty, moving to within four points of their opponents, but they leaked two more five-pointers to trail 26-10 at the break.
What transpired thereafter can only be described as a brutal assault. Without conceding a further point in the match, Kingswood ran in eight more tries, with Braans leading the charge. His 22-point haul (a try, seven conversions and a penalty), tipped the Eastern Cape derby bragging-rights scale in Kingswood’s favour for another year.
