While the Cheetahs are seeking the signature of Sergeal Petersen, his move is yet to be finalised.
On Monday, it was reported that the EP Kings wing will play Super Rugby for the Cheetahs next season, but continue to play for the Kings in the 2014 and 2015 Currie Cup Premier Division.
However, EP Rugby CEO Charl Crous said on Tuesday that there is no loan agreement in place, at least not yet.
'We have always said that we would assist our players to secure Super Rugby experience in the build up to our re-entry to Super Rugby in 2016,' said Crous. 'In the case of Sergeal Petersen, we have been informed by his agent that the Cheetahs are interested in securing his services for next year, but we have not yet had any discussions with them, let alone finalised any loan agreement. The announcement that Sergeal will be going to play for them is extremely premature.'
The Cheetahs have signed Pumas and Lions fullback Coenie van Wyk for next year, as the Cheetahs look to replace several departing players.
Johan Goosen (Racing Métro), Hennie Daniller (Zebre), Riaan Smit (Oyonnax), Ligtoring Landman (Newport Gwent Dragons), Nick Schonert (Worcester Warriors), Kevin Luiters (EP Kings) and Andries Ferreira (Zebre) will all be leaving the Cheetahs after Super Rugby.
Trevor Nyakane and Adriaan Strauss have recently been linked with a move to the Bulls, while Lappies Labuschagne is considering offers from the Bulls and Sharks.
