Former Stormers flyhalf Peter Grant is looking forward to having another crack at winning the Super Rugby title, this time with the Western Force.

Grant, who earned 104 Super Rugby caps during an eight-year career at the Stormers, joined the Force in the off-season after a brief stint in France.

Despite the fact that the Force finished bottom of the log last year, winning a mere three games, Grant insisted a change in approach at the Perth-based side could bring a change of fortunes.

‘It was a great experience I had at the Stormers. It was a good career there, but the change was good for me,’ he told foxsports.com.au. ’My goal is to do well here at the Western Force.

‘I haven’t won a championship in Super Rugby. I’ve played in a final but I haven’t won it, so there’s that achievement I’m aiming for. The preparation that we’re putting in our pre-season, we haven’t been training to be second best, so we all believe that we have a fighting chance to be in those play-offs and that’s the attitude we’ve gone on.'

Grant said he was determined to play his part in leading a young backline to embrace an attacking style of play.

‘We’ve definitely worked hard on spreading the ball a bit more and playing an attractive, exciting brand of rugby, which I love and it’s the style of game I’ll play.

‘I think maybe towards the end of last season they weren’t playing that style and it was a lot more kicking orientated and defensive, but we want to change that whole attitude and be more attacking and aggressive.’
