Blitzboks speedster Seabelo Senatla could get some game time for the Stormers after the Sevens World Series.
Senatla is in the Blitzboks squad for the upcoming tournaments in Wellington (30-31 January) and Sydney (6-7 February), and will have a crucial role to play as they look to win gold at the inaugural Olympic Sevens in Rio in August.
However, Senatla could play Super Rugby with the Stormers after the final World Series event in London in May, as a unique dual contract with Saru and Western Province allows him to play the entire sevens season and then return to the 15-man game.
The sevens flyer therefore plays all year round, which is something he enjoys doing.
‘It comes with the territory; it’s about being young. I enjoy rugby so much that I want to play all the time,’ Senatla told the Weekend Argus. ‘But they do manage me well at the sevens and at Western Province. They always chat to each other to make sure that I remain fresh.
‘There is a rotational plan in process [at SA Sevens], but we will see how it turns out. I think the Olympics will be the priority, and if coach Neil [Powell] says I must rest, then I will do that. But if he says I can get some game time [at the Stormers], then I might.’
