James O'Connor has signed a three-year deal with Toulon according to Midi Olympique.
The French rugby newspaper says a clause has been written into his contract that will allow him to return to Australia in 2015 to play Super Rugby and push for a place in the Wallabies' World Cup squad. He would then return to Toulon after the World Cup.
O'Connor is current playing for London Irish, who he joined after not being offered a contract by any of Australia's Super Rugby sides.
Meanwhile, Midi Olympique alleges that Toulon are 'losing patience' with scrumhalf Rory Kockott over his on/off move from Castres and could turn instead to Dimitri Yachvili.
