Frans Steyn has joined French side Montpellier as injury cover for Ilian Perraux.
The 28-year-old arrived at Montpellier on Thursday to replace Perraux, who has been ruled out for the rest of the season.
The South African utility back joins a multitude of ex-pats who are currently playing for the French club under new coach, and ex-Bok coach, Jake White.
Steyn has been playing in Japan’s Top League since 2014 after four years with Racing 92 in France.
He will be joined by fellow South African No 8 Pierre Spies, who also moves to France following a stint in Japan.
