Varsity Cup matches scheduled for this Monday will be played on 4 April due to university protests.
This follows the disruption of the game between Shimlas and NMMU on Monday, 17 minutes into the first half, when protesting students walked onto the field. They then clashed with rugby fans, before both the protestors and fans were removed from the field by university security.
The match resumed an hour later, with Shimlas going on to win 46-19.
The four league fixtures to be postponed are UCT vs Tuks, CUT vs NMMU, UJ vs Maties and Pukke vs Shimlas.
'We do not condone any form of violence, discrimination or disruptive behaviour,' said Varsity Cup CEO Duitser Bosman. 'The safety of students, players and spectators is of immense priority to us. The current challenges facing universities and students are a concern. We have compassion and respect for the situation and hope that amicable solutions can be reached with all parties.'
The board will meet again next week to reassess and monitor the developments at the various universities before any matches resume.
