Smith singled out Fourie du Preez as the greatest scrumhalf to play in a World Cup, stating that ‘there can be only one’. Du Preez was instrumental to South Africa’s triumph in 2007 when he orchestrated the Boks’ attack. His role in the famous 36-0 victory over England stands out as one of the finest individual performances in rugby history.
