The Lions have suffered a blow ahead of the Super Rugby season with winger Sampie Mastriet breaking his collarbone in a warm-up game last Saturday.
Coach Johan Ackermann confirmed to SuperSport.com that Mastriet would be out of action for at least three months.
'It is sad, because he has been training well for months now, and working hard to be ready for the season.'
However, the good news is that Springbok Lionel Mapoe has been cleared of injury, while centre Harold Vorster is also set to return soon.
The Lions will kick off their Super Rugby campaign against the Sunwolves on 27 February.
