England rise in rankings

England have moved up to seventh place in the World Rugby rankings following their 15-9 victory over Scotland at Murrayfield.

The result earned new coach Eddie Jones's charges a 1.12 ratings points increase, taking them above France, who ground out a 23-21 win against Italy in Paris.

World Cup quarter-finalists Scotland have lost 1.12 ranking points, which costs them a place in the top 10 as they fall two places to 11th. The beneficiaries of Scotland's decline are Japan and Fiji, who rise to ninth and 10th respectively.

Ireland's 16-16 draw with Wales in Dublin had no bearing on the rankings.
