The battle between the two No 10s will be decisive in Thursday's pre-season match at the Stade Mayol, writes BRENTON CHELIN.
Pat Lambie usurped Handré Pollard as the incumbent flyhalf for the Springboks during the end-of-year tour with some composed performances in testing conditions. With rain predicted in the south of France on Thursday, the Sharks will look to capitalise on Lambie's educated boot to ensure they play the game in the right areas of the field, and keep Toulon's considerable pack on the back foot.
In Nicolás Sanchez, Toulon have a flyhalf with game-breaking abilities and international experience. The 26-year-old has played 30 Tests for Argentina, and played a pivotal role in their victories over the Wallabies and France last year. Sanchez is expected to interchange with Juan Martín Hernández at first receiver as Toulon look to vary their options on attack.
If the Sharks succeed in limiting the two Argentinian's space and manage to disrupt the European champions on attack, then Lambie's greater game-management skills will put them in with a great chance of victory.
