Alberts to lead cricket Boks

Willem Alberts will captain the Springboks against the Proteas in the Nelson Mandela Legacy Cup T20 match on Friday.

The match at the Wanderers will commemorate the one-year anniversary of the former president's death.

Injured Bok skipper Jean de Villiers has been replaced in the squad by national kicking coach Louis Koen, while the Bok side will be coached by former Proteas wicketkeeper Mark Boucher.

Boucher, who handed out the Bok jerseys for their Test against the Wallabies in Cape Town earlier this year, says he is excited about the match.

'I know they are not really known for their cricketing skills, but it was clear to see earlier this year that these boys know how to handle a bat and ball. And they certainly don't lack anything when it comes to competitiveness.

'In the previous match, Butch James took the gloves and I’ll share some tips with him, but generally we have some very talented guys across the park.'
