Western Province forwards Oli Kebble and Chris van Zyl could both miss Friday's Currie Cup clash against the Free State Cheetahs due to injuries.
Kebble has a hamstring niggle, while Van Zyl took a bang to his knee in the defeat to the Vodacom Blue Bulls this past weekend. Province confirmed that Van Zyl will miss the match, with Kebble in serious doubt.
However, scrumhalf Louis Schreuder and lock/flank Jurie van Vuuren are back in full training after recovering from a hamstring and shoulder injury respectively. Schreuder will be considered for selection this week, while Van Vuuren will come into contention from next week.
WP coach John Dobson didn’t hold back when reflecting on Saturday’s 47-29 loss to the Bulls.
‘Once the Bulls had momentum it was hard to stop them and, quite frankly, it was an embarrassment to Western Province rugby the way we played. Not one of our players enhanced their reputations.’
Meanwhile, scrumhalf Nic Groom will be playing for the Barbarians in the United Kingdom this week and will not be available for Friday’s match.
